This young owl is a Great Grey Owl. I've seen a lot of videos of people petting all types of species of Owls and they seem to enjoy their human families however, if you're like me, the minute I came across a young isolated bird, I felt the need to become its Mother. 🤗
Truth is, it's best to look for the nest and if possible put the young bird including owls back in their nest. If you cant find a nest, step away from the young bird and observe using binoculars. Chances are, it's Mother isn't far, and most likely was watching you the whole time. If you don't see an adult bird return then its recommended you contact a wildlife facility for help.
It's a myth that birds will reject their young if it came into contact with a human. Birds do not have a strong sense of smell. They have keen vision but not a good sense of scent.
I've always found Owls to be very mysterious and I am not overly knowledgeable about them but the above information seems to be good advice from others who do know a lot about Owls.
